I landed at Pudong Airport at 2000 hrs. Excellent touchdown and very controlled reduction of speed without the use of thrust reversers. We left the runway and then began one of the longest taxi towards the bay. 2020 hrs the aircraft stopped and the loudspeakers crackled with the most heard of command, " all doors to Manual ". This meant that the doors will open now and the passengers will deplane.... I wanted them to deplane fast so that I could get off the aircraft and walk to the smoking zone to have a cigarette.
After completing the immigration formalities collecting my baggage from the belt checked the tag to make doubly sure that I have my bags with me, I walked through the custom and was out of the airport. The crew transport was waiting for us and I got in made myself comfortable, plugged in my headphones.
SHANGHAI here I am.....
The bus, moment it left the airport premises, got on to one of the longest networks of flyovers and meandered through at a comfortable speed of about 100 km/hr...The city kept passing by. One thing that struck me was the fact that SHANGHAI does not reflect any communism in any way.. It on the contrary exudes every molecule of capitalism,. High rise buildings ,skyscrapers, condominiums, all were decorated with external lights so aesthetically designed.
The above photographs is what I saw of SHANGHAI at night.. Thinking of the countless workmen who might have created this lovely city ,wondering where could they be staying, I probably slept. When my eyes opened our transport had reached the hotel. J.W.Marriot, at Changfeng Park.
